Hi! I am Monisha, mother of a Teenager. Perfect or imperfect mother, really not sure, but a Proud Parent of a Published Author and a Budding Scientist and share a very strong bond with my child. Mention of Parenting remains incomplete without the mention of the child 😃. For me, Parenthood has been a Rollercoaster ride, where I often made mistakes, learnt from it and still not perfect. Through this write up, I am trying to relive those experiences and I hope Readers enjoy traveling with me through my memory lane.
A famous Irish Dramatist, George Bernard Shaw once said "Parentage is a very important profession, but no test of fitness for it is ever imposed in the interest of the children.", but then Parentage has it’s worth only if it’s in the interest and for the betterment of the child. I was judged on multiple occasions by others, but being a parent of a special child, my decisions also needed to be different.
Prior to my present profession, I worked as a System Analyst for a Software firm, where I was supposed to study the requirements of my customers and prepare a detailed analysis report to design the software to suit their specific needs. It's same with Parenthood, child specific, every child is different and we need to implement our decisions, take actions pertaining to them, accordingly. But it is a lifetime job, without any promotion or demotion, the difference being we cannot resign from this job and I really cherish this position 😄 .
Pregnancy Days
My parents were working with Coal India, which involved staying in small places with minimum facilities and frequent transfers, so for my education, I was sent to my Paternal grandparents. Here I stayed in a joint family with my grandparents, uncles and Aunts in Nagpur. After marriage, I shifted to suburbs of Pune.
It was my Birthday, my Uncles and Aunts along with my young cousins visited me. My husband gifted me Dr. Spock's book on Baby and Child Care. I was 2 months pregnant. Dr. Spock's book on Baby and Child Care is like a Bible for every young mother. It was read by my mother, who herself is a doctor when she was expecting with me (although a different edition of the book) and I gifted my sister-in-law when she was pregnant.
